Reclaiming by putting a symbol

Just connected the dots about reclaiming. Those are widely known ways of reclaiming your rights a territory or an object (or your being an origin of an object):

• A farmer marking his cattle with a logo-shpaed burn mark.
• A company putting its logo on its products.
• A team of travellers sticking a flag on a newlly discovered territory.
• A flag on a building of an embassy, governmental building etc.

But those are symbolically the same:

• A gang member drawing a graffiti “tag” on a public wall.
• A woman putting a tatoo on her body.
• Putting symbols of a religion or an ideology onto public infrastructure.
• Constructing entire buildings as emblems on the land (churches).

Breaking something also works in a similar fashion:

• A young man breaking a piece of public infrastructure.
• A group of drunk young people dancing on top of cars.

Tatoos are not always a way to reclaim territory, sometimes they are a type of “uniform” one can never take off, that shows you belong to the community of warriors, a gang etc.
